Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has backed the Whites to nick a win against Huddersfield Town in a high scoring affair at Elland Road today.

While the Yorkshire giants have made a slow start to the season with inconsistent performances, Huddersfield have been flying and are sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table.

Leeds also don’t have the best of home records, only three wins out of their last eleven league games, going into the west Yorkshire derby, but Gray has backed his former side to edge out the Terriers.

He admits Huddersfield’s form and Leeds’ defensive frailties mean the game can expect goals, but the Leeds legend believes the Whites can beat the Championship leaders in a high scoring affair.

Gray told LUTV: “Given we are yet to prove that we can defend this season, and their attackers playing well, there will be goals in this game.

“But I think we can just shade it; I won’t be surprised if we can win the game with an odd goal in five.”

Huddersfield’s last visit to Elland Road in March was also a high scoring affair, but it was also one sided as Leeds suffered a chastising 4-1 defeat in the west Yorkshire derby.
