Leeds United winger Stuart Dallas admits that he enjoyed returning to the fold in his side’s win over Blackburn Rovers last night.

Dallas, who was left out of the squad in recent games as Garry Monk looked to treat him carefully after Euro 2016, returned to the Leeds starting eleven and played the full 90 minutes in their 2-1 win over Blackburn.

Following a summer where he was involved in the European Championship with Northern Ireland, Dallas didn’t have much of a pre-season and it showed in his performances in the initial weeks.

The winger admits that it is always nice to return to the starting eleven, and thanked Monk for showing enough faith to play him for the full 90 minutes last night.

He has insisted that he has been working hard on his fitness, and enjoyed contributing in a winning cause for Leeds.

Dallas told BBC Radio Leeds: “It was good to be back.

“It has been a tough couple of weeks for me; I have been working hard and credit to the gaffer, he showed a lot of faith by putting me straight in tonight.

“You can see that may be at the end I was tiring a wee bit, but that 90 minutes is going to help me.

“And as I said I enjoyed it; you always enjoy when you are winning.”

Dallas will hope to retain his place in the team when Leeds travel to Wales to take on Cardiff City on Saturday.
