Mauricio Pochettino has highlighted the importance of Tottenham Hotspur bagging the full three points against Middlesbrough in the Premier League later in the day.

Spurs, who thrashed Gillingham 5-0 in an EFL Cup game on Wednesday night, are currently third in the standings with 11 points from five outings, four adrift of leaders Manchester City.

On the other hand, newly promoted team Middlesbrough are winless in their last four games in all competitions and presently find themselves 13th in the Premier League with five points from as many games.

However, Pochettino, who is aware of the threats posed by Boro, insisted that his side are expecting a tough contest at the Riverside Stadium.

The Argentine went on to add that it is vitally important for Spurs to return with the full three points in order to remain towards the top of the Premier League table.
