Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Tottenham Hotspur’s wins over Bournemouth last season will have no bearing when his side take on the Cherries in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs thrashed Bournemouth 5-1 in the league at Dean Court last October before beating Eddie Howe’s team 3-1 in the corresponding fixture at White Hart Lane in March.

Bournemouth, who were involved in relegation battle for the majority of last season, have considerably improved their squad in the summer and presently find themselves 11th in the standings with 11 points from eight games.

On the other hand, Tottenham are the only unbeaten team in the Premier League in the present campaign and are currently third in the table with 18 points from eight outings.

However, Pochettino, who explained that his side are expecting a tough outing at Dean Court at the weekend, stated that Spurs are not thinking about their victories against Bournemouth last term.

“It’s a different season and every game is different”, he said on Spurs TV.

“We’re expecting a very tough game. They are a confident and energetic team, who like to play football.

“It’s completely different. We’re not thinking about the games we played against them last season.

“It’s another game and we need to be very focused and try to do our job.”

Spurs will head into the Bournemouth game on the back of two consecutive draws in all competitions.
