Barrie McKay feels he was subject to several "nasty" tackles during Rangers' 2-0 defeat of Hearts at Ibrox on Saturday.

The winger was handed a start as part of Rangers' front three by Mark Warburton for the Scottish Premiership clash and did not disappoint, turning in a performance full of energy and one which included his side's vital second goal, which killed off the visitors as a threat.

McKay believes he was on the receiving end of a number of bad challenges from Hearts players, with one in particular resulting in a sore nose, as Perry Kitchen caught the Rangers' man's face with his foot.

The winger told Rangers TV: "My nose is sore after that challenge towards the end but it was a good game and I think I took quite a few nasty tackles but you always have to get back up."

Rangers' win over Hearts has given the Gers breathing space over third placed Aberdeen, who are now four points behind Warburton's men with a game in hand.

And McKay was delighted with Rangers' performance at Ibrox against the Jambos.

"I’m buzzing; I think that is probably one of our best performances I think", he added.

Next up for Rangers is a trip to take on Hamilton on Friday night, a game then followed by a home clash against Inverness.

The Gers then close out 2016 by playing St Johnstone away from home and then welcoming fierce rivals Celtic to Ibrox on New Year's Eve.
