Nigel Spackman is not expecting Middlesbrough to put up much of a fight when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool on Sunday.

Boro, who have won just one of their last 20 Premier League games, have already been relegated from the top flight.

Middlesbrough sacked Aitor Karanka as their manager in March, with Steve Agnew taking the reins of the club.

The Riverside stadium outfit, who have the worst goalscoring record in the Premier League this season, are expected to bring in a new manager in place of Agnew at the end of the season.

And with nothing left to play for this season, Spackman feels Middlesbrough will fail to put up any kind of resistance at Anfield.

However, the former midfielder was quick to add that Liverpool, who need to win to be certain of a top four finish, should approach the game in the right manner and should look to attack Middlesbrough from the start.

“I think it will just be a tour for Middlesbrough”, Spackman told LFC TV.

“They have lost a manager and Agnew has taken over.

“And he apparently won’t be the manager next season, someone else will come in.

“The players are obviously playing for a bit of pride and some of them will be leaving as well for better things and some for not so good things.

“It’s about how Liverpool approach the game.

“We need to go out there and really attack them and put them under pressure, that’s what we need to do.”

Middlesbrough, who have just scored 27 league goals this season, were edged out 2-1 by Southampton last weekend.
