Crystal Palace are interested in signing goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona during the summer transfer window, according to Spanish sports daily AS.

Frank de Boer, the new Palace boss, worked with the Dutchman at Ajax and is keen to take him to Selhurst Park ahead of the start of the new season as he looks to make his mark on the squad.

Cillessen joined Barcelona from Ajax last summer as back-up to Marc-Andre ter Stegen and only made ten appearances for the Catalan giants last season across all competitions.

The goalkeeper is said to be interested in linking up with his former manager in England, but Barcelona are unlikely to sell the 28-year-old without securing a replacement.

Crystal Palace’s move is also dependent on Steve Mandanda’s transfer to Marseille and talks between the two clubs have stalled after the London club refused to water down their asking price for the Frenchman.

De Boer is still hopeful of selling the French goalkeeper and then making a move for Cillessen as he looks to sign a new number one for the Premier League club outfit this summer.

Cillessen has a release clause of €60m in his Barcelona contract but Crystal Palace are not expected to pay that price for the goalkeeper.
