Monaco have not agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid to sell Manchester United target Fabinho to the Spanish giants yet.

Reports in Spain emerged on Monday night that Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal with Monaco for the signature of the Brazilian midfielder and Fabinho could move to Spain in January.

While the two clubs are in negotiations over Fabinho, it has been claimed that the Ligue 1 champions are yet to reach any agreement with Los Colchoneros for the sale of the midfielder.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, negotiations are ongoing and Monaco have indeed received a bid worth €45m from Atletico Madrid, but there is still some way to go before an agreement can be in place.

Monaco are in no hurry to conclude any deal too as they want to keep the Brazilian midfielder at the club for the start of the new season and are prepared to drag their feet over negotiations.

However, with the club strengthening their midfield in anticipation of departures, Monaco are in favour of reaching a deal with Atletico Madrid as it would mean Fabinho will remain at the club until January.

Atletico Madrid are barred from registering any new players until the January transfer window and Fabinho would only be able to complete a transfer in the winter.

Manchester United have also been interested in the Brazilian, but it seems they are currently pursuing other targets at the moment.
