Manchester City winger Bernardo Silva admits that his dream was always to play for boyhood club Benfica at the highest level and says perhaps in the future he might return to the Estadio da Luz.
A product of the Benfica academy, the Portuguese made just three senior appearances for the club before joining Ligue 1 giants Monaco in 2014 on an initial loan deal.
Silva impressed for Monaco during this three-season stay at the club, winning the Ligue 1 title last term before making a big money switch to Manchester City during the recently concluded summer transfer window.
However, he still regrets not playing for Benfica for a little longer and playing at the highest level with his boyhood club; Silva admits things did not work out the way he wanted it to.
He has insisted that joining Monaco was the best decision he took in his career, but Silva has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Benfica, where he had most of his football education since the age of seven.
