Rangers youngster Ross McCrorie has indicated that it was easy for him to play in a centre-back pairing with Fabio Cardoso at Firhill as they have been training together for weeks.

The 19-year-old defender made his debut for Rangers in their 3-1 Scottish League Cup quarter-final win over Partick Thistle on Tuesday night at Firhill.

The youngster was called into action when he had to replace an injured Bruno Alves in the 76th minute and he made a good impression alongside Cardoso in the heart of Rangers’ defence.

McCrorie admits that after playing with the Portuguese in pre-season and regularly training with him in the first team, it was easier for him to slot into a partnership with Cardoso on his debut.

He feels Cardoso is a good partner to have alongside him in the heart of the team’s defence.

On playing with Cardoso, McCrorie told Rangers TV: “I played with him a few times in pre-season.

“I know exactly what he’s like as I train with him every day and Fabio is a brilliant player.

“And he is good to play alongside.”

Cardoso joined Rangers from Vitoria Setubal during the summer transfer window.
