Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that his Tottenham Hotspur side cannot show any fear when they face Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday evening in a Champions League group stage game.

Tottenham earned a creditable draw at the Santiago Bernabeu a fortnight ago, but since then their form has raised concerns despite a 4-1 win over Liverpool.

A shock defeat to West Ham last week saw Spurs knocked out of the EFL Cup and Manchester United beat them at Old Trafford at the weekend, but Pochettino wants to see his side be brave when they face Real Madrid.

The Tottenham manager is keen to see his side show no fear against the European champions at Wembley as he believes only then they will be able to show their real quality on the pitch.

Pochettino said in a press conference: “Of course it’s a game where you have to be brave. If you are not you start losing. For me, one or another starting selection is not important.

“It’s more about our squad, not to pick one or another.

"Of course we are brave in the way we are going to play.

“We must play free and enjoy the game.

"If you show fear it’s difficult to show your quality.”

Harry Kane has returned to training with the squad, but there are still doubts whether he will start against Real Madrid at Wembley.
