Whichever club get their hands on former Newcastle United star Hatem Ben Arfa will have a good player, new Leicester City manager Claude Puel insists.

The attacking midfielder, who has failed to make a single appearance for Paris Saint-Germain in the current campaign, has been tipped to leave the French giants in January in search of playing time.

It has been claimed that Puel is keen to take  Ben Arfa to Leicester during the winter transfer window, with the Frenchman having previously played under the former Southampton manager at Nice.

Fellow Premier League outfit Newcastle  have also been credited with showing interest potentially re-signing the 30-year-old, whose present contract with PSG will expire next summer.

And Puel explained that Ben Arfa, who previously played in the Premier League with the Magpies and Hull City, would be a good acquisition for whichever club he signs for.

“The club that has the opportunity to have Hatem, I think it will be a good deal”, he said on RMC on Thursday.

But Puel played down talk of a move for Ben Arfa being under way, saying that he will only think about Leicester’s possible January recruits after getting to know his squad at the King Power Stadium.

"For me, it's important to really get to know my squad, get to know all the players, and then look at the winter transfer window”, he continued.

Leicester, who are presently 11th in the Premier League table are next up against Stoke City on Saturday.
