French football agent Christophe Hutteau has advised Monaco to resist selling Liverpool target Thomas Lemar before the end of the World Cup.

Liverpool and Arsenal came close to signing the Frenchman towards the end of last summer and there was also talk that the winger could have left in the January window.

Lemar has reportedly been resisting signing a new contract and is keen to leave Monaco at the end of the season, with Liverpool still interested in taking him to Anfield.

With the transfer window closing early for the Premier League in the summer, the big clubs are expected to do a lot of early business and the Reds could make a move for the France international soon.

However, Hutteau feels Monaco should abandon the idea of selling him before the World Cup and as a good showing in Russia could potentially push up his eventual transfer fee.

A deal after the World Cup would mean less time for Liverpool to sign Lemar, given the early window closure, and the Reds would have serious work to do.

Speaking to Eurosport France, the agent said: “If I were Monaco, I would wait to sell Lemar.

“If he has a great World Cup, his value could exceed €100m.”

The transfer window for the Premier League this summer will close on 9th August, two days before the start of the new season.
