Leeds United's chances of signing Kyle Bartley have suffered a big blow after Swansea City were officially relegated from the Premier League.

The Swans needed to beat Stoke City and have a ten goal swing against Southampton to secure their spot in the Premier League for next term, but lost 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium.

As a result the Welsh giants will be playing their football in the Championship next season, where they will come up against Leeds.

The Yorkshire giants want to sign Bartley, who spent the 2016/17 campaign on loan at the club, and have opened talks with Swansea in an attempt to get the deal done.

But it had been claimed that if Swansea suffered relegation then they are more likely to keep Bartley than sell him.

The Swans know that the centre-back is a proven performer at Championship level and may believe keeping him at the Liberty Stadium can boost their chances of making an instant return to the Premier League.

Bartley is claimed to be open to rejoining Leeds, but Swansea may refuse to sell.
