Pontus Jansson has indicated that he will only discuss his future at Leeds United after the end of the World Cup, when he plans to sit down with his agent.

Jansson is the only Leeds player to feature in the World Cup this summer in Russia as he has been named in the Sweden squad for the tournament.

The defender has been vocal about his love for Leeds and insisted that while playing in the Premier League is a dream for him, he wants to do it with the Yorkshire giants.

The Swede is believed to be on the radar of several clubs in the top tier of English football, but for the moment he is unwilling to discuss his long term future at Leeds ahead of the World Cup.

He was quoted as saying by Fotbollskanalen when asked about his future: “I have told Martin [Dahlin my agent] that we will discussing everything after the World Cup.

“There is no need to speculate over it now.

"Both me and the wife feel really good."

Jansson indicated that he wants to continue at Leeds despite their failures this season as he believes he shares responsibility for the team’s inability to challenge for promotion.

He admits that he could have thought about leaving if he was the player he was several years ago, but the spell at Leeds has left him feeling loyal.

Asked if he would have worked towards leaving Leeds in the past, he said: “A few years ago I would have reasoned it that way.

“Now I feel it would be more a disappointment and a betrayal for those rooting for Leeds. I received a new five-year contract because I did something good.

“I still believe I had a good season, but when the team have not played well, I cannot feel proud about it.

“In one way I feel we have left the club down.

It remains to be seen what Jansson might think about his future if Leeds were accept an offer for him.
