Anderlecht are in advanced negotiations with Newcastle United for the signature of goalkeeper Matz Sels on a permanent deal.

The Belgian goalkeeper had a forgettable season at Newcastle before he was loaned out to Anderlecht last summer where he has rekindled his career.

Sels has been insisting that he does not want to return to Newcastle and has been keen on continuing at Anderlecht, with the club also more than willing to sign him on a permanent deal.

The goalkeeper has also been reportedly willing to accept a pay cut to help Anderlecht pool their resources to sign him from the Premier League outfit.

And it seems a deal to sell Sels to Anderlecht is inching closer as according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, the two clubs are in advanced negotiations to reach an agreement.

Newcastle paid €6.6m to Gent to sign Sels in 2016 and are claimed to have been asking for a transfer fee of around €4m for the Belgian goalkeeper.

Anderlecht have been unwilling to match their asking price, but it seems a compromise is on the cards and Sels could rejoin Anderlecht on a permanent deal.

He has already agreed a five-year contract with the Belgian giants.
