Inter are still hopeful of negotiating terms with Valencia for Manchester United linked full-back Joao Cancelo later in the transfer window.

Cancelo spent the season on loan at Inter and the Nerazzurri had an option to make the move permanent by paying a previously agreed transfer fee of €35m this summer.

However, coach Luciano Spalletti confirmed earlier this week that the club will not be taking up the option of signing the Portuguese full-back on a permanent contract for the moment.

Inter wanted to renegotiate the fee, but Valencia have been adamant that the Italians must pay the set amount and it has led to interest from other European big wigs in the defender this summer.

Manchester United and Juventus are interested in signing Cancelo from Valencia and Napoli also reportedly got in touch with his representatives to discuss a move.

However, Inter are still hopeful of reaching a solution and according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, they are prepared to wait until later in the window to approach Valencia again.

Cancelo wants to continue at Inter and the Nerazzurri are hopeful that Valencia will be more accommodating towards lowering their financial demands for the player later in the summer.

And with Inter set to receive Champions League money, the club are confident of getting a deal over the line for the defender before the window closes in August.
