Rapid Vienna coach Dietmar Kuhbauer is concerned about the state of his side's pitch ahead of Thursday night's Europa League meeting with Rangers.

The Austrians need just a point against Steven Gerrard's side to book their spot in the last 32, while Rangers need to take all three from the Allianz Arena.

Rapid Vienna have not won at home in their last three games and played out a 0-0 draw with Stum Graz at the weekend.

Kuhbauer believes that there is an issue with the playing surface at the Allianz Stadion, which means even simple passes go astray.

"The bad grass is a disadvantage because teams do not play openly against us at Hutteldorf", Kuhbauer told the Salzburger Nachrichten.

"It is difficult when simple passes go everywhere."

Rapid Vienna goalkeeper Richard Strebinger has even harsher views, commenting: "In such a place, you cannot play a game."

The club are making plans to put a new surface on the pitch, but Rapid Vienna have had success at the Allianz Stadion in the Europa League this season.

Kuhbauer's men have seen off Slovan Bratislava, Steaua Bucharest and Spartak Moscow at the ground.
