Celtic defender Anthony Ralston has raved about midfielder Scott Brown, who made his 500th appearance for the Hoops in their 3-0 win against Motherwell on Wednesday.

Brown has started in three out of Celtic’s last four Scottish Premiership games after returning from a knee injury, and helped his side return to the top of the table against the Steelmen.

Ralston, on the other hand, made his first appearance of the Premiership season and opened the scoring for the Hoops to start the rout.

The 20-year old believes that Brown’s presence lifts the team and the captain deserves all the credit for his latest achievement with the club.

“He gives all the boys a good lift”, Ralston told Celtic TV.

“He’s a proper legend at the club. A great leader and a great captain.

“So all the credit should go to him.”

Ralston had a bright game but admitted that he needs to keep working hard to make more appearances for the Hoops.

“I enjoyed it. It was great.

"So, just need to keep the hard work going.”

Celtic now have a one-point lead over closest rivals Rangers in the Premiership table, and do have a game in hand over the Gers.
