Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Heung-Min Son's Asian Cup involvement in January will not force Spurs to scour the transfer window for a replacement.

Son, who netted the opening goal during Tottenham’s win over Arsenal in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, could miss as many as three games during January owing to international duty.

The South Korean has been called up to represent his country in the Asian Cup that will take place in the United Arab Emirates and will join up with the squad after the Premier League clash against Manchester United on 13th January.

Despite the possibility of missing out on Son’s services for almost a month, Pochettino has revealed that Spurs are unlikely to scrounge the market for a replacement in January.

Pochettino stressed that Spurs knew the situation from the beginning of the season and reiterated it will not change their minds.

“I need to tell you that we knew from the beginning of the season that it would happen”, Pochettino said in a press conference.

“But that doesn’t mean it’s going to change our minds.”

Son will miss the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Chelsea and the Premier League meetings with Fulham and Watford, while he could also be absent for another league game if South Korea reach the final.
