Former Liverpool midfielder Jan Molby has seen enough to get excited about Naby Keita and believes the summer signing could be sensational for the Reds.

Keita, who arrived at Anfield on the back of a blockbuster deal from RB Leipzig in the summer, has struggled to become a consistent performer under Jurgen Klopp so far this season.

The Guinean enjoyed a promising start to life in the Premier League, but was subsequently held back owing to a few injuries that curtailed his progress.

Despite the summer-recruit not setting the world on fire since his arrival, Molby insisted that Keita is showing promising signs of what he can offer to Liverpool.

The former Reds midfielder also admitted Liverpool are yet to witness the Keita who became a household name in Germany, but went on to claim he is indeed a player to feel excited about at Anfield.

“Yes [Naby Keita is slowly showing glimpses of what he can do for Liverpool] and rightly so because he had been nothing short of sensational at Leipzig”, Molby said on LFC TV's preview show.

“We are still waiting to see the absolute best, but it has been a disrupted start to his Liverpool career with a couple of injuries and I think Klopp is looking after him.

“But, I think we have seen enough signs, he is sort of a cheeky little midfield player, isn’t he? He’s got some real, real ability.

“And I think when he gets it all, he is going to be another sensational player. We see things here that not everybody has in their locker.

“He has not quite done it enough for us, but he has shown us enough signs that this is a player we need to be excited about.”

Liverpool could head into Christmas at the top of the Premier League table if they manage to secure maximum points against Wolves at Molineux tonight.
