HJK Helsinki are delighted that a friendly clash against Rangers at Ibrox has been agreed.

The Finnish giants will travel to Scotland to lock horns with Steven Gerrard's side on 20th January, while they will also hold a small training camp around the game.

The friendly was agreed in principle as part of the deal which took striker Alfredo Morelos from HJK Helsinki to Rangers.

HJK Helsinki will use the game as preparation for the start of the Finnish season in early 2019.

And the club's managing director is delighted that the friendly against Rangers has come about.

"It is a great start to the year with Ibrox and a small training camp, which is set around the game", Aki Riihilahti told his club's official site.

"In addition to many other conditions, the game was agreed in the Morelos transfer and now there has been a suitable time when both wanted a good game at the start of the year."

It remains to be seen what strength of side Gerrard will send out for the friendly with Rangers in Scottish Cup action a day before and then back in Scottish top flight action three days later against Kilmarnock.

HJK Helsinki won the Finnish title last season, finishing 16 points clear at the top of the table.
