Former Italy midfielder Antonio Di Gennaro believes Jurgen Klopp deserves to win the Premier League this season at Liverpool.
Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Wolves on Friday night made sure they will be at the top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day.
Manchester City will remain just a point behind Liverpool in the table if they beat Crystal Palace this weekend, but many are tipping the Reds to end their close to three-decade wait for a league title this season.
Di Gennaro conceded that sometimes good football might not lead to winning the league as it was evident by the way Napoli lost to Juventus in the Italian title race last season.
However, the former Italy star believes Liverpool have the tools to end their title drought this season and wants Klopp to win the Premier League as he deserves to get it done.
The former Azzurri told Italian broadcaster RMC Sport: “The results involve many things, just see [Maurizio] Sarri at Napoli.
“The Premier League is a more different championship, but the team have grown in terms of football and their awareness.
“And now with Alisson and [Virgil] Van Dijk, they have shaped their defence and can win something.
“Klopp deserves it.”
Liverpool will be back in action on Boxing Day when they host Newcastle United at Anfield.
