Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has conceded that he is wary of the threat Aston Villa’s front two, Tammy Abraham and Jonathan Kodjia, can pose for the Whites defence on Sunday.

The Whites are going into the game at Villa Park on the back of a five-game winning streak and are putting in a strong promotion push.

Aston Villa’s record of conceding eleven goals in their last five games should give Leeds’ attackers hope of getting some joy on Sunday but Gray is very much aware of the threat the home side will have up front.

The Leeds legend pointed towards the strike partnership of Kodjia and Abraham and admits that their individual qualities complement each other when they play together.

Gray said on LUTV: “Kodjia and Abraham: they can cause any team problems.

“Especially Kodjia with his pace and running at defenders and Abraham scoring goals.

“I watched him the other week against West Brom and he missed so many chances and could have scored six that day.

“On his day he will stick the ball into the back of the net and those two are going to be big players.”

The Leeds legend still remembers the problems Leeds faced against a powerful West Brom strike force last month and feels Aston Villa will pose similar threats.

He is certain that Marcelo Bielsa has looked at his defence and how they will cope with Aston Villa’s forward line.

“Whoever plays at the back for us, they have got to be right on their game on Sunday against these two.

“They are big and powerful and that was something we had against West Brom. They were strong and powerful and caused us problems.

“That is something the coach will be looking at and how they can cope with that threat.”

Abraham and Kodjia have scored 18 league goals this season for Aston Villa.
