Steven Gerrard has warned Rangers that Hearts will be confident after their Scottish Cup success last weekend ahead of the meeting between the sides at Tynecastle.

The Light Blues return to action in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, when they take the trip to the capital in a bid to try and secure a win over Hearts.

Craig Levein’s men are buoyed by their Scottish Cup semi-final win over Inverness at Hampden last weekend, while Rangers have enjoyed the comfort of a break to work on training during that time.

And ahead of the Gers’ visit to Tynecastle, Gerrard has issued a warning to his players that the Jambos will be confident after securing their berth in the Scottish Cup final last Saturday.

“It will be a tough match, they will be confident after the cup”, Gerrard said in a press conference.

“Craig will have a tough physical team to beat and their fans will be up for it.

“We need to go and play football the Rangers way and control the ball.”

The Rangers boss also admitted his team will approach the game against Hearts with the mentality of winning it and added the extra time on the training pitch puts them in good stead.

“We approach this the same as every game, we go to try and win.

"We have had a lot of time to prepare on the training ground which helps”, he added.

Rangers have won all three of their games against Hearts so far this season in the Premiership.
