Brighton Under-23s coach Simon Rusk has insisted that Ben White can gain a lot from working under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United this season.
The 21-year-old centre-back joined Leeds on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Brighton during the just concluded summer Premier League and Championship transfer window.
The young defender has already impressed during his short time at Elland Road and earned words of praise from Bielsa himself following his debut against Bristol City on the opening weekend.
Rusk admits that while taking a call on White’s future, he felt it was the best decision for him to move to Leeds for the 2019/20 campaign.
He believes that the 21-year-old, he has an immense amount to learn and gain from working under a coach of Bielsa’s stature and reputation at Leeds.
“It felt to all of us that it [a move to Leeds] was best for Ben’s immediate future", Rusk told The Athletic.
“He’s comfortable on the ball and a consistent type of character and working with someone like Marcelo Bielsa, you’re talking about one of the most respected coaches in the world.
“Ben’s got masses to gain out of this situation.”
White has big boots to fill at Leeds as the club are expecting him to seamlessly replace Pontus Jansson, who joined Brentford this summer.
