The Bhoys were able to conclude their Europa League campaign on a high after registering a 3-2 win against Ligue 1 outfit Lille at Celtic Park on Thursday night.

Goals from Christopher Jullien, Callum McGregor and David Turnbull sealed the win for the hosts, giving them some breathing space to get back to form after a terrible run of two wins in 13 matches in all competitions.

McFadden issued advice to the Glasgow giants to get back to playing simple football in the defence as he feels their attack will sort out itself with the quality they have up front.

“I think Celtic need to get back to simple football especially at the back and get a structure to it”, McFadden said on BBC Radio Scotland.

“The attacking play will come because they’ve got enough options up top.”

The 37-year-old reserved special praise for midfielder Ismaila Soro, whose work rate and discipline in the middle of the park impressed him.

“It’s no surprise Soro has gone down with cramp [during an extended period of stoppage time] he’s been everywhere on the pitch; the surprise is that it’s taken him this long to go down.

“I’ve been really impressed with his contributions.”

Celtic will be back in action against Kilmarnock at home on Sunday in the Scottish Premiership and will be keen to snatch all three points from the encounter with the Hoops currently 13 points adrift of league leaders Rangers.
