Maitland-Niles has been heavily linked with a loan move away from Arsenal during the ongoing transfer window, with Leicester City, Southampton and West Brom interested.

The Foxes appeared to be in a good position to land the 23-year-old as the player was open to a move to the King Power Stadium, but Arsenal were not keen on strengthening a direct rival.

Southampton, who were willing to include an obligation to buy for the player, were the Gunners’ preferred destination for Maitland-Niles.

However, the Saints pulled out of talks to sign the England international, with the midfielder not convinced of a move to St. Mary’s.

Leicester and Southampton being ruled out as potential destinations for Maitland-Niles has left West Brom in a favourable position to sign the 23-year-old.

The Baggies have rekindled talks with Arsenal over a loan deal for the Englishman and are confident of getting the transfer over the line before the window slams shut.

Maitland-Niles is also said to be happy to join West Brom on loan until the end of the season.
