Raphinha scored in Leeds’ 3-0 win over Southampton on Tuesday night and helped his side to move to tenth in the Premier League table.

The Brazilian has been a revelation in his first season in England and is one of the first names on Marcelo Bielsa’s teamsheet.

He provides a real forward thrust to the Leeds team, but Sherwood feels he does more than just create and score goals for the Whites.

The former Spurs boss is a fan of the way Raphinha works hard for his team-mates off the ball and believes the Leeds players trust him to manipulate the ball out of tight areas with his guile.

Sherwood also credited the Brazilian for settling in and produce goods for Leeds during a tough period for all players involved, especially for a new signing coming into England for the first time.

The former Tottenham boss said on Premier League TV following the game: “He has got real guile.

“I think left-footers always look a little bit better, but when I watch him off the ball, his workload is incredible.

“He gets back in, gets around, does defensive work, makes unselfish runs like we highlighted for the second goal and he is getting the ball because they know they can trust him in tight areas.

“He manipulates the ball really well, he has got good speed, and should have scored in the first half and he always affects the football match.

“Let’s give him credit as he has come in at a very difficult time, he can’t see his family but he is working hard, doing the job for the shirt and that’s what the Leeds fans would want.”

The 24-year-old winger has six goals in all competitions for Leeds this season.
