Heinze stepped into the world of management after calling time on a playing career that saw him play for the likes of Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
Following stints with three different clubs in Argentina, the 42-year-old was appointed as Major League Soccer club Atlanta United’s boss in January this year and has already been likened to Leeds head coach Bielsa by many.
Expressing his thoughts on Heinze being likened to Bielsa, Atlanta United’s Argentine striker Lopez has explained that he can see the similarities between his two countrymen.
Lopez went on to point out how both deploy a fast style of play and also rely on intensity in an attempt to describe the similarities between them.
“I can say that there are similarities in their styles“, Lopez told The Athletic.
“The fast transitions and the combination play in any sector of the field.
“There’s an intensity to the players and the style of play is very fast.
“So from that sense, there are similarities between the two coaches.”
The 2021 MLS campaign is scheduled to begin in April and it remains to be seen how Heinze will fare in his first managerial job outside Argentina.
