Flanagan made a promising start to his life as a footballer at Liverpool, becoming a favourite among the Reds fans, but has seen his career nosedive in recent years.

Following largely unsuccessful stints with Rangers and Belgian club Charleroi, the defender has now been given a lifeline by Liverpool great Agger, who has taken him to Danish side HB Koge.

HB Koge sporting director Rud has admitted that the club are aware Flanagan has not played much in the last year, but feels he is in good shape and has backed him to be an asset for the team.

Rud revealed that HB Koge boss Agger talked to Rangers manager and former Liverpool team-mate Gerrard, who spoke highly of the former Gers man, before signing the 28-year-old.

Of course we are aware that Jon Flanagan has not played that much in the last year, but he is in good shape“, Rud told HB Koge’s official site.

And Daniel Agger has, among other things, obtained really nice reference on him from Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

Daniel also knows Jon Flanagan and his qualities himself from their shared past at Liverpool, and we believe that Jon Flanagan can go on to become an asset here at the club.

Agger, who took charge of HB Koge last month, will be hoping that the former Liverpool full-back can help him make an impressive start to his life as a manager.
