Torreira spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid and has been clear about wanting to leave Arsenal this summer.

He is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans and has been training alone, away from the first-team squad at the Premier League club.

A move to Italy has been in the works for a while and Fiorentina are close to working out an agreement to sign him on loan.

And according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, Torreira will soon be flying out to Italy to complete the move to Fiorentina.

The deal is at an advanced stage and the Uruguayan will arrive in Italy today as he gets closer to joining the Serie A club.

He will be taking a flight from London later in the afternoon after saying goodbye to his Arsenal team-mates.

The loan deal also includes an option to buy for a fee of around €15m if Fiorentina wish to sign him on a permanent contract.

Arsenal are focused on moving on a number of their players in the final week of the transfer window.
