The Hammers are keen to make major additions to their squad before the transfer window slams shut and have identified Tagliafico as a potential recruit.

It has emerged that West Ham have reached an agreement with Ajax over the transfer of the Argentina international.

The Irons have agreed a fee in the region of €12m, but are yet to reach an agreement with Tagliafico over the personal terms of the deal.

According to Dutch daily De Telegraaf, West Ham face a major challenge to sign the left-back before Tuesday’s transfer deadline as he is in Venezuela, while his agent is in the Netherlands.

David Moyes’ side are claimed to have offered Tagliafico a four-year deal, but the proposal was not acceptable to the Argentine.

It remains to be seen if West Ham will return with an improved offer for Tagliafico, who is currently in Venezuela for international duty.

With the player and agent in two different countries, the Hammers could struggle to get a deal over the line before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
