After showing Jose Mourinho the exit door in April, Spurs were on the lookout for a new manager in the summer, but were unable to secure the services of any names that were initially on top of their list of managerial candidates.

Spurs chief Daniel Levy after a long search finally got his man in ex-Wolves boss Nuno, who was strongly backed by new managing director of football Fabio Paratici.

It has emerged that Levy has secured a clause in Nuno’s two-year deal that will enable him to sack him without any compensation if Spurs do not seal a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.

However, Tottenham have denied suggestions that they have such a termination clause in Nuno’s contract that is heavily weighted in their favour.

Following a strong start to their top flight campaign, Spurs hit a rough patch of results, losing three games in a row and were finally able to bounce back with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

But Spurs fans have been far from impressed with their team’s performances under Nuno so far this season, raising serious questions whether he is the right man for the job.

Nuno will be determined to keep Spurs going in a positive trajectory following their latest outing and erase any doubts that Levy has made the right move in hiring him.
