Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been given the next three games to save his stint as Manchester United manager but a defeat at Tottenham on Sunday could spell the end of his time at Old Trafford.

The chastening 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool exposed flaws in Solskjaer’s management and the players often looked dazed and confused during a punishing afternoon at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have not won a league game for over a month and Wright insisted that the mistakes being made by the players are directly down to the lack of work being done in training.

He stressed that there is no way anyone can insist that the Manchester United players are being put through the required drills that would have made them a more organised team.

Wright said on the Wrighty’s House podcast: “What’s gone wrong is that they are not working on team shape or pressing as a team.

“There is no way anyone can tell me, from what I am watching, that team are working on small-sided game situations, closing down, moving the ball, pressing at the right time, cutting angles off, moving your feel quickly and triggers on the pitch.

“They are not doing it so we are seeing players make mistakes, we are seeing Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire bumping into each other because they do not know what is going to happen when the ball is in a certain place.”

Manchester United will be looking to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Tottenham, a result which would ease the pressure on Solskjaer.
