The Toffees have made two new signings in the ongoing window, while they also allowed Lucas Digne to leave Goodison Park and join Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

All three pieces of Everton’s transfer businesses so far this month took place while Rafael Benitez was in charge.

However, following the dismissal of the Spaniard, the Everton hierarchy, devoid of a director of football, have shifted focus to finding Benitez’s successor, which has resulted in the club being silent on the transfer front despite a busy start to the month.

The Toffees chiefs have interviewed several managerial candidates in recent days and now are set to hold talks with ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard for a second time today.

Even though the Merseyside giants are not close to taking a final decision on their next boss, the club want to have a new man at the helm before the weekend.

The transfer window is set to slam shut on Monday and Everton want a new manager before that to possibly strengthen their squad further as they look to ensure their top flight survival in the second half of the season.

Everton are set to be without midfield duo Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph for up to a month owing to injury and adding more options to that position could be of focus to the club in the final days of the window.
