Spurs boss Antonio Conte has deemed Bergwijn surplus to requirements at Tottenham and the club are ready to cash in on him for the right price.

The north London giants have already knocked back an initial bid from Ajax for the winger while he has also emerged as a target for Frank Lampard’s Everton.

Bergwijn is claimed to be keen on joining Ajax, where he had a spell in their youth team, and ex-club star Kieft is sure it represents a step back in his career.

Kieft added that Bergwijn just wants to play football as he has struggled for game time at Spurs, who are keen to kick on.

“Going back to Ajax is also taking a step back [for Bergwijn] after playing at PSV and Tottenham Hotspur, right?”, Kieft said on Dutch broadcaster SBS6’s Vandaag Inside show.

“He just wants to play football; Tottenham are just too ambitious for him.”

Spurs are seeking a fee in the €25m range for Bergwijn’s signature and it remains to be seen where he ends up playing next with Everton and Ajax keen on him.
