Reguilon’s future at Tottenham is under the scanner as he is deemed surplus to requirements at the club by boss Antonio Conte.

The full-back has been training away from Conte’s first team while manging director of football Fabio Paratici continues to work on finding him a new home before next week’s transfer deadline.

Serie A giants Lazio are keen on snapping up Reguilon on an initial loan deal but they are facing significant competition for his services from Premier League new boys Nottingham Forest.

It has suggested that the Biancocelesti could even miss out on the left-back with Nottingham Forest’s deal-makers heavily backing their boss Steve Cooper in the market.

However, according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport, Reguilon prefers joining Lazio over the Tricky Trees this summer, and is not seeing the proposal from Cooper’s side as his priority option.

Reguilon is tempted by the idea of playing in Serie A this season and also wants regular game time as he has ambitions to earn a spot in the Spain squad for the forthcoming World Cup.

But Lazio will need Tottenham to pay part of Reguilon’s wages should they allow him to join on loan and it remains to be seen whether the north London giants will agree to those terms.

With Spurs stepping up efforts to trim down their squad it remains to be seen who among Reguilon’s potential suitors will win the race for his signature.
