Robins boss Nigel Pearson wants to beef up his options before the transfer window slams shut and his eyes have been drawn to Belgium.

Young Crystal Palace defender O’Brien is on loan at Molenbeek in the Belgian second tier and Pearson is keen on him.

Bristol City are eyeing the 21-year-old, who is getting regular game time in Belgium.

The Championship side could try to convince Palace to let O’Brien move to Ashton Gate on loan, or even slap in an offer for a permanent transfer.

The clock is ticking, but O’Brien could be tempted by a switch to Bristol City.

He has made 18 appearances in the second tier in Belgium so far this season, chipping in with two goals in the process.

In England, O’Brien has never played above League Two level, but that could be about to change in the coming days.
