The 22-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan with Sunderland, where he scored seven goals and was recalled by previous Everton boss Frank Lampard to aid them in their relegation battle.

Since his return, Simms has featured in seven games for Everton, starting only one and scored his first goal in Toffees colours against Chelsea just before the international break.

Dyche stated that Everton’s coaching staff are aiding Simms by showing him clips and giving him suggestions to improve his performance in front of goal.

And the Everton manager stressed that he completely agrees with the striker’s view of himself as a work in progress.

Dyche believes that it takes time for young players to get used to Premier League standards and stated that the priority for him is that Simms continues to learn from his on field experiences.

“He’s just got to continue working on his game and continue learning about the game that he is doing”, Dyche said at a press conference.

“We have shown him clips, we have spoken to him and he shared his view of what he thought, mentioned that other week and I agree with him.

“He is a continued work in progress, but learning about the Premier League can take time sometimes, so when he gets his time on the pitch, that’s important to him and important to us.

“Making sense of it and learning, I think, is the biggest thing for me as a young centre forward, or youngster in the Premier League, that is.”

Everton will travel to Old Trafford at the weekend to take on Manchester United and Simms will be hoping to have an impact on the game.
