The veteran centre-back is on big wages at Juventus and the club are open to letting him go in the ongoing transfer window.

Juventus are assessing ways to move him on this summer and are even contemplating terminating the final year of his contract.

The 36-year-old defender has had enquires from Saudi Arabia but he is not convinced about moving to the Middle Eastern country.

But according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, a move to Newcastle would be more appealing to the centre-back.

It has been claimed that a meeting has already taken place between Newcastle and Bonucci’s representatives to discuss a potential move.

However, Newcastle have not made any concrete offer to try and sign the defender this summer.

The Magpies are evaluating the different aspects of a potential deal including the finances and whether Bonucci would fit Eddie Howe’s plans both technically and physically.

Juventus and Bonucci are waiting to see whether Newcastle will table an offer for him this summer.
