Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is keen on adding a right-back to his squad this summer and Southampton’s Livramento is his first choice.

The 20-year-old joined Southampton in the summer of 2021 from Chelsea and the London club included a future sell-on fee in the deal.

And due to the sell-on fee clause, Saints are refusing to lose Livramento on a cut-price deal.

Newcastle have seen an initial offer in the region of £20m rejected by Southampton and both clubs are in negotiations regarding a deal.

And the Magpies have seen their hopes of signing Livramento boosted as the Saints are showing interest in Norwich City right-back Aarons.

It has been suggested that Southampton are in pole position to land the Norwich City star and his arrival at St Mary’s would help facilitate the move for Livramento.

Southampton want a transfer fee in the region of £50m and Newcastle are hoping to negotiate a lower sum for the player.
