McNally spent last season on loan at Coventry City and was a big part of the team that reached the playoff final.

The Irish defender is not a big part of Vincent Kompany’s plans at Burnley and the club are open to letting him go this summer.

Coventry have been keen to have him back and Millwall have also shown an interest in the centre-back in the ongoing transfer window.

But it has been claimed that Stoke have made a late move to sign the centre-back from Burnley this summer.

Alex Neil is an admirer of McNally and the Stoke boss is driving the club’s interest in getting their hands on him.

Stoke are hoping to get a deal done to sign him soon and are pushing to work out an agreement.

McNally has other clubs in Championship who want him as well but Stoke are likely to have the extra money needed to outmuscle their rivals.
