Bristol City are in the market for a midfielder after parting ways with Alex Scott and Bolton’s Thomason is top of their list.

The Robins submitted a £1m bid to Bolton Wanderers, matching their valuation, but the player has rejected a move to Ashton Gate this summer.

Evatt revealed that the 22-year-old expressed his desire to stay with Bolton Wanderers from the very beginning and added that Thomason wants to play a role in his project.

The Wanderers manager admitted that he feels it is refreshing to see the player reject a lucrative move to the Championship to repay the club’s trust in him.

“I have to say, George, from minute one, expressed a desire to stay and be a part of what we are doing here”, Evatt was quoted as saying by the Bolton News.

“And I have to say it is very refreshing to see a young man with the ethics and morals he has.

“We have shown him a lot of faith, trust and loyalty and he wanted to repay that.”

Thomason came through the academy ranks at Bolton Wanderers and has already made 74 appearances for the club.
