Lenglet, 28, has been on the books at Barcelona since 2018 and he spent last season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur.

The centre-back is widely tipped to leave the Nou Camp outfit this summer and was of interest to Spurs earlier in the transfer window.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s side did not make a move for him, much to Barcelona’s disappointment, but Aston Villa are now in to offer a Premier League solution.

According to Catalan daily Sport, Aston Villa are offering to sign Lenglet on loan and will pay a loan fee, however they face competition.

Lenglet is also attracting interest from within La Liga and Sevilla are interested in the French star.

It is suggested that Sevilla have not yet thrown in the towel on the battle for Lenglet and are still trying to sign him.

Villa boss Emery is keen on bolstering his centre-back ranks in the final stretch of the transfer window.

And it remains to be seen whether the Premier League outfit will be able to bring in their defensive target eventually before the transfer deadline.
