The 21-year-old centre forward went out on loan in the second half of last season to join Sunderland and featured 18 times in the league for them while netting three goals.

Daniel Farke is focused on strengthening Leeds forward department and has brought in Joel Piroe.

Piroe’s arrival might see Gelhardt’s first-team minutes limited and the centre forward is also keen on regular football.

Gelhardt has suitors in the transfer market and with less than 24 hours remaining in the window Leeds might let him leave on loan.

Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna is focused on adding some firepower in the final third and Gelhardt is high on his list.

The Tractor Boys have yet to submit any official offer to Leeds for the 21-year-old, despite their interest.

Ipswich Town striker Freddie Ladapo might make a move on deadline day and his deal could facilitate Gelhardt’s move to Suffolk today.
