Tony Mowbray has been keen to bring in a striker all summer and the Sunderland manager is set to get his wish.
With Ross Stewart on the verge of joining Southampton, Sunderland’s need for a new striker has become even more stark on deadline day.
The Black Cats are now indeed on the verge of bringing in a new striker for their squad today.
Sunderland now have a deal in place to sign Chelsea striker Burstow on loan for the rest of the season.
The 20-year-old forward has travelled to Wearside to complete the move and is currently at the club’s training base.
Burstow was on the bench in Chelsea’s opening game against Liverpool and made substitute appearances in the next two league matches.
He did start in Chelsea’s EFL Cup clash against Wimbledon on Wednesday night but is now to spend the season at Sunderland.
