The 32-year-old winger has featured in over 450 games for Celtic and this season he has played a bit part role for Brendan Rodgers’ side so far.

The Celtic boss has revealed that he wants to trim down the squad and the veteran winger might come under scrutiny while doing so.

However, Hartson believes that Forrest still has a part to play for Celtic in the upcoming years, pointing out that the 32-year-old was offered a new contract last season.

The ex-Celtic star pointed out that Forrest was a starter for Celtic last season and stressed that the winger still has more years left in his career.

“I still think he has another couple of years in him”, Hartson said on The Go Radio Football Show.

“He signed a four-year contract, and I think he was a starter last season.

“So I still think he has a part to play.

“I really do.”

Forrest has more than 102 goals to his tally for Celtic and his contract is set to expire in June 2025.
