Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is open to bringing in short-term cover in the winter transfer window to help his injury-riddled squad, according to The Athletic.
The Magpies have lost four of their last five Premier League games and have slipped down to eighth in the league table.
They have also been knocked out of Europe and have also exited the EFL Cup, the competition in which they played in the final last season.
Howe is looking to bring in reinforcements in the January window in order to provide some much-needed freshness to his squad but the budget is tight at St. James’ Park.
It has been claimed that the Newcastle boss is even open to bringing in short-term cover on straightforward loan deals.
Newcastle have been interested in loan moves but mostly with a view to buying the players.
However, this time around Howe is prepared to accept short-term signings for the purpose of having better cover in his squad.
Newcastle are also open to exploring the free agent market to bolster their squad if necessary.
Howe is facing a tough January run of fixtures, which includes a clash with arch rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup.
