Atalanta are pushing to secure a deal to sign Birmingham City midfielder Jordan James in the January transfer window.

 

The 19-year-old midfielder has been a shining light in a Birmingham team who have struggled over the last few months.

 

A versatile midfielder who can play both as a defensive and attacking presence in the middle of the park, James has scored five times in 24 Championship appearances.

 

 

 

His performances have now piqued the interest of clubs outside England and Birmingham are facing the prospect of losing him this month.

 

According to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Atalanta are pressing to take the teenager to Italy in the ongoing window and have offered €4.5m plus bonuses for his services.

 

 

The Serie A club are renowned for their ability to identify young talents and give them a platform to develop in Bergamo.

 

They have zeroed in on a James as a player with a high talent ceiling and are keen to get their hands on him.

 

 

The midfielder still has 18 months left on his contract and losing him would be a blow for Blues.

 

James is a full Wales international and has already earned eight caps for his country.
